DAYTONA BEACH SHORES

First organized in 1960 by local business leaders who thought a smaller community could better serve it's residents, Daytona Beach Shores has grown into a wonderful destination escape for families, race and motorcycle event aficionados and anyone looking for more things to do than just sit on the beach.  Oh...sitting on the beach is a magnificent thing to do too and the beaches are magnificent!

Located "Beachside" on Route A1A, Daytona Beach Shores is between Daytona Beach and the unincorporated village of Wilbur-by-the Sea, which is just north of Ponce Inlet.   "The Shores" is a great location for families to enjoy the beach, fishing, miniature golf, and lots of other fun things.  A resort and retirement community, Daytona Beach Shores has no schools and no manufacturing industry, it caters to the the vacationers year-round.  Daytona is well known for it's "Drive Beaches" where you can drive your car onto the beach and park it there!  Load up the kids and the beach equipment and park right next to your blanket!  Beach vendors have refreshments, chairs, light snacks, umbrellas and other necessities if you don't have or forgot.

The surfing is among the best on the east coast and there are great vantage points throughout "The Shores" to watch "surfer-dudes" tackle the waves.

A final note to all visiting...from a local: Pay close attention to the speed limits in all towns, the friendly officers hide well and pounce quickly.  Speed limits are 30 -40 MPH throughout the area although some roads look like you could go faster.
